2012-2013 Officers Installed / “Let’s Go!”

The Installation Ceremony for the NWALSP 2012-2013 Officers was held on April 11, 2012, at the law offices of Buckley, McLemore, & Hudson in Fayetteville, followed by a delightful reception for members and guests. Installing Officer was attorney Rusty Hudson, who administered the oath of office to Kimmi Wiles, President; Robin Matlock, Secretary/Treasurer; and Shelley Jackson, State Director. Kimmi’s theme for 2012-13 is “Let’s Go!” Watch for big things to happen this year in NWALSP!

2011-12 Officers Sworn in

NWALSP installed its new officers on May 12, 2011, at The Asa Hutchinson Law Group, PLC. The theme for the installation was a luau, and pineapples, tiki torches and leis contributed to that theme. Guests included lawyers from local law firms in addition to the membership. Meghan Vernetti of Quattlebaum Grooms Law Firm served as the Installing Officer. Congrats to the new officers!

New Committee Chairs Named

The Executive Committee of NWALSP met to finalize the Chapter Bylaws and to vote on committee chairpersons. If you have any interest in serving on a committee, please leave a post below!

Kimmi Wiles will serve as our Education/CLE Chair. If you have any ideas for CLE topics please leave a post below!

Shelley Jackson will continue to serve as Membership Chair. We have some exciting ideas for membership drives this fall!

Courtney Campbell will serve as Publicity Chair. We are currently working on a Media Kit!

Jessie Plant will serve as the Ways & Means (Fundraising) Chair, as well as the History Book Chair. Ideas for fundraisers are already underway!

AALS “Boot Camp” a Success!

Kimmi Wiles and Courtney Campbell represented NWALSP at AALS Leadership Retreat in Mountain View, Arkansas on June 10th and 11th.

The CLE sessions included Ethics with Reba Peden, NALS Region 6 director; a Physical and Mental workout led by Jody Hodgson; ‘Understanding Strategic Planning, the Basics,’ presented by Doris Compton; and last but not least, ‘Basic Dress Uniform Requirements’ presented by our own Kimmi Wiles! Kimmi represented our organization very well. Her presentation was filled with humor, good information and fun! Kimmi passed around scarves for everyone and instructed them to wear the scarf in any way they chose. The activity demonstrated how our personalities can come through in our basic work attire.

Before leaving, everyone ate lunch together at the Ozark Folk Center’s Skillet Restaurant, and President Cheryl Summerhill ended our conference with a call to be great and do great things.

Swearing In of Officers

Former President Deana Duncan passes the presidential gavel to Shelley Jackson.

The Northwest Arkansas Legal Support Professionals (NWALSP) met at the law offices of Quattlebaum, Grooms, Tull & Burrow PLLC to install their 2010-2011 officers on August 12, 2010. Being sworn in were President Shelley Jackson, President-Elect Pat Cooper, Secretary/Treasurer Deana Duncan and State Director Kimmi Wiles.

After the installation ceremony, President Jackson briefly explained her plans for the year, which included achieving national certification for NWALSP members and adding more opportunities for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit.

The members of NWALSP were joined by local attorneys, as well as several officers from the state organization, AALS…the Association for Arkansas Legal Support Professionals, including President Judy Davis, President-Elect Cheryl Summerhill, Past-President Linda Adair, and Immediate Past-President Janice Miller, who drove to Springdale from all over the state to be a part of the Installation Ceremony.

“It was a wonderful evening, and it was so special to have the four generations of presidency there,” said State Director Kimmi Wiles.

The Northwest Arkansas Legal Support Professionals (NWALSP) is the local chapter of AALS, the Association for Arkansas Legal Support Professionals, and NALS, the National Association for Legal Professionals.

NWALSP is designed to provide opportunities for CLE credit, professional networking and certification.
